Engineering Portfolio

The Motion Analysis Laboratory is a cutting-edge facility that harnesses advanced computer technology to capture and analyze three-dimensional movement patterns—be it of rehabilitation patients, elite athletes, or even animals. The system seamlessly integrates motion capture technology with high-precision tools such as Electromyography (EMG) sensors and force plates. By placing reflective markers and electrodes on key points of the subject’s body, the lab is able to accurately measure muscle activity and track the motion of individual body segments in real-time.

This precise biomechanical data offers invaluable insights across various disciplines. In rehabilitation, it supports the development of personalized therapy plans. In sports, it enhances athletic performance by identifying areas of improvement and optimizing technique. In academic and clinical biomechanics studies, it serves as a goldmine for research and innovation.

Here in Malaysia, several institutions have embraced this sophisticated technology, and we are proud to showcase some of the top Motion Analysis Labs in the country—each pushing the boundaries of movement science and making a real-world impact.

UTM-MJIIT

MJIIT & Motion Lab

Malaysia-Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT)

MJIIT, a prestigious faculty of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), was established on May 26, 2010 under the vision of Malaysia’s Look East Policy.

It blends Eastern values with modern engineering education, inspired by Japan’s global success—rooted in discipline, diligence, and persistence. Supported by a consortium of 29 Japanese universities, MJIIT has grown into a global leader in Japan-oriented engineering education.

Motion Analysis Laboratory

The Motion Lab supports research in biomechanics, sports performance, and engineering development. It is equipped with state-of-the-art technology including:

  • 10 Vicon Vantage V5 optical cameras
  • 1 Vicon Bonita reference video camera
  • Vicon Nexus 2 software suite

The system was installed by Summit Features Sdn. Bhd. (SFSB) in March 2018, and the collaboration continues with ongoing training, technical support, and planned signing of an MoU.
